Dr. James Stamper is a native Texan and was raised in San Antonio Texas where he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1966.
He is a 1970 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he studied zoology and chemistry. His dental degree was obtained in 1977 at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. There he was awarded the American Society of Dentistry for Children Scholarship for pediatric studies. Dr. Stamper completed his pediatric dental residency in 1979 at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Stamper’s private practice was established in 1982 in Southwest Houston and has remained in the same location. He has been a staff member of Texas Children’s Hospital and Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital for over 25 years. Dr. Stamper is an active member of the Greater Houston Dental Society and is a member of numerous dental professional organizations including:

- The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- The American Society of Dentistry for Children
- The Houston Academy of Dentistry for Children
- The Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
When Dr. Stamper is not working he enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife Diane, and two sons Ross and Peyton. He also loves folk art collecting.
